Going Green is the New Black

So, as we all know, times are tough for planet Earth. In the face of all the problems in the world, many people are keeping hope alive by going green. In addition to being all the rage, recycling and hybrid cars have become ways of life. And since it’s so fashionable to go green, it’s wonderful to see the eco-friendly world crossing into the fashion world. It seems as if going green is the new black; both high fashion and smaller scale designers are now using eco-friendly fabrics such as bamboo and organic cotton, and innovative products such as candy bar wrappers are being recycled and reused to make stylish clothing and accessories (see the video posted above).

I am so glad to see this trend being so fully embraced by the fashion world; it expands the ways in which people can get involved. As a college student, I find myself caring very deeply about environment issues, but feeling inadequate about the level to which I can help. I’m just stuck in the bubble of campus, practically broke, trying to spend enough time studying so that I can the avoid angry calls from my parents that follow a poor performance on an exam… I can barely find time to sleep, never mind help save the world. Thankfully, other people are better able to balance their time and can put worthwhile effort into this excellent cause; take, for instance, my wonderful friend Ali, who spends her extra time working for the green cause (she even has a blog about it!). But for the people who are not as dedicated as she, this new trend of green fashion is an easy way for each and every person to get involved. In addition to buying new clothes and accessories built from recycled materials, people can recycle their own clothes: cut off the sleeves, paint and write on them, layer them in new and interesting ways, EXPRESS YOURSELF! Everyone can do his or her part in this fun, expressive and innovative way to help Mother Nature.

Eco-friendly fashion. It’s not just clothing… It’s saving the world! Times are looking up for planet Earth.

OMG! No one lives and breathes fashion like I do. It's totally my thing, and now that going green is a new hot trend I've came up with so many fabulous ideas.

I just recently went green, so the fact that even designers are coming up with ideas that can help preserve the environment excites me even more. Who knows, maybe one day before the world comes to an end we will be using EVERYTHING to make out world a better place. Hey! C'mon it can happen right?

I've already started within my home. One of the biggest changes I have made so far was switching to bioheat. Can you say AWESOME? It's heating oils blended with biodegradable products like soybean oil and avocados. Sounds great for a facial right? I know, but it's great to heat your house with too! During the winter when it's freezing is when it’s my best friend. It definitely keeps my buns warm.

Working with NORA is what got me into being green in the first place. I've been encouraged to make it apart of my daily life so we can help mother earth. She has to be fly and fabulous too! I got lots of really great tips from:

Check it out and see if there are tips that can encourage you to keep it green all year around as well.
